After several years doing spearfish, I started scuba diving in 2002 and since then I took several courses, until I reach the instructor level of PADI OWSI in 2008. Since the beginning, the love to photography was there and I quickly bought a Sony camera and housing. In 2008 I decided to evolve to a DSLR and I bought a Canon 400D, which was my camera for 8 years. I used this camera in my firsts underwater photography competitions in 2012. I decided to enter in the FotoDigiSub just for fun, the competition was composed by 5 stages and I participated in 3 of them. Two years later, still with my old Canon I entered in the Portuguese Mainland Regional Competition. At the same time at Haliotis, we decided to create an Underwater Photography Competition, the Haliotis Photo Adventure, different from the others which take place in Portugal and I was the responsible for the organization, where Rui Guerra was the Technical Director. This competition is still alive, but I left that role in 2016. Still in 2016, already with a Nikon D90 in a Hugyfot housing, I entered again in the Portuguese Mainland Regional Competition and decided to become an active participant for 2017 onward. Since then I participated in almost all Portuguese underwater photography competitions and entered in the Portuguese National Team in 2018. During this journey I highlight the second place in the Portuguese National Championship in 2017 and the first place in the Portuguese National Championship in 2019. Currently I’m using a Nikon D500 and a Nikon D850 both in Hugyfot housing. You can follow my competitions portfolios and some galleries in this site, enjoy !
